Our Prediction:

Napoli will win

Lecce – Napoli Match Prediction | 23-09-2019 09:00

Lecce and Napoli, the two clubs from the Southern Italy, face each other at Stadio Comunale Via del Mare on day 4 of the new Serie A campaign. Lecce did not make a flying start to the season and seeing that the Partenopei are eager to put an end to Juves dominance in the Italian top flight, we are positive that the visitors will leave their hearts on the field in Sundays football match. The Giallorossi are eyeing their first win of the season, but beating the star-studded Neapolitans is easier said than done.

In addition, their great form and strong scoring record left them with a few big successes on the road. Napoli won five of their six trips to the bottom six last term, which is where we expect Lecce to end up. Over half of their away victories in the league last season saw them win by a two-goal margin or greater.

They have four wins in six on their travels, which should carry through this game. Last term the visitors had one of the leagues strongest away records, while they were able to average 1.74 goals per game on the road. Napoli have two 2-0 wins in the space of a week, so theyre doing fine so far. The Partenopei head into this clash as heavy favourites to see off Lecce.

Both of their strikers Diego Farias and Marco Mancosu scored a goal each, so I expect them to pose the biggest threat to the opponents goal. Biagio Meccariello, Cristian DellOrco, Riccardo Fiamozzi, Simone Lo Faso and one of their best defensive players Giannelli Imbula are all ruled out. Manager Fabio Liverani will have to deal with a number of injuries in his team.

Napoli look to be too strong for them and not only that, but we think Napoli can keep another clean sheet here just like they did last weekend. This is another huge test for Lecce, and we dont think they are good enough to overcome it, despite being at home here. Lecce scored twice against Torino, but were kept off the scoresheet in their other two games.

Prediction correct score: 3 - 2

Most recently we saw them beat Sampdoria 2-0, a game in which they impressed both in defence and in attack which bodes well for the future. Away from that though, they have looked very good and won both of their other two games in good style. Napoli have started well, with two wins and one defeat from their first three games. Crucially their defeat came against fellow title challengers Juventus, in what was a very big game.

And that was way too long ago for those records to be relevant now, so I had to focus on other important factors such as recent form and performances of the two clubs. Of course we all know that Napoli is a much stronger team than Lecce, and its easy to predict that they will go home with all three points, but according to the hosts latest performances and the home-ground advantage, I also believe that they will show what theyre made of by netting a goal. Because of Lecces absence from Serie A, the last time that these two teams clashed was 7 years ago.

After 3 matches they are in 4th place in the standings with 6 points and 9:7 goal difference. Out of those 3 matches, they won 2, and the only 4-3 defeat they suffered was by the reigning champions of Serie A, Juventus. Napoli, commonly known as the Blues had a pretty good start to their campaign. Their recent fantastic triumph over Liverpool in the Champions League group stage goes to prove how big they are at the moment, and I think that its easy to say that theyll net some goals in a clash against a weaker opponent.
