It has a Church, a National School, a Shop/Post Office and two public houses. When Offaly won the 1998 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship the goalkeeper on the team was Stephen Byrne from the club. It also has a small GAA club called Kilcormac-Killoughey. Mountbolus is a small village in the parish of Killoughey situated at the foot of the Slieve Bloom Mountains in County Offaly, Ireland.

The club formerly amalgamated with the Clonaslee-St. Seamus Dooley and Declan Conroy are two of the club's most famous players, representing Laois at senior hurling level.
