The Nire – An Rinn Match Prediction | 16-09-2019 14:00

de Brca was able to play on. Both players needed assistance. You could hear the thump as the two collided chasing a loose ball. Bizarrely, once play resumed Nire played for 14 men while they waited five minutes to make a substitution, Alan Lawlor. 4. Shane Walsh retired from the game though injury after a thundering collision with Tadhg de Brca on 36 minutes.

Questions were being asked of Clashmores intentions and they answered in style, coming to grips with the pace of the game and Edmond O Halloran heralded their comeback with a fine score from play before Cillian O Keeffe provided for a rasper of a goal by Jason Seward into the roof of the town end goal in the 21st minute, 0-9 to 1-4.

Brickey Rangers put it up to Kilrossanty throughout the first half and indeed wasted two or three opportunities to really punish the Comeragh men when the Black and Amber had gone up. They didnt have the firepower to inflict heavily and once Kilrossanty gained a strong foothold in the second half they pushed on unopposed to take the win. However, their attack was very blunt on the night and this was the real losing of the match for the Brickey Rangers.

Paul O Connor settled the winners with two badly needed points from frees by the 10th minute but Nire continued to dominate and further scores came from the boots of Seamus Lawlor, Craig Guiry, Shane Ryan, 0-3(1f) with assists from Conor Gleeson and Jamie Barron to hold a handsome and deserving 0-9 to 0-3 advantage by the 20th minute.

9. Clashmore/Kinsalebeg managed to hold on however showing great nerve and strength in defence to keep the champions at bay. Four minutes of added time was called for. Cutting in from an angle he opted to insure the win and went to handpass the ball over the bar. The finish was edge of the seat. Paul OConnor was unleashed with a ball into him in the corner and with him and his marker the onlyoutfieldplayers at that end of the pitch he was away in for goal in a one-on-one situation. However, dramatically, it came back off the post and Nire galloped down the field to have another crack at the opposition defence.

A left legged pointed free by Brian Wall in the 59th minute, who along with Thomas O Gorman were now in the front line, reduced the deficit to the minimum. Following a Shane Ryan goal scoring opportunity, an unsighted Declan Hickey made a good 57th minute save from Darren Guiry before Conor Gleesons third point added further to the final moments of tension. It was back to the wall stuff for the winners and they coped better than a lot of other teams would to confine the Champions to a further 0-2,(1f).

Twice they would get that deficit back to just two points with Clinton Hennessey proving accurate from frees but again miscues at the posts hindered any further challenge. One minute over stoppage time Tom Wall pulled off a double save from Seamus Keating after the midfielder unleashed back-to-back goalbound shots. A goal would still have left them one short with time up but it just shows you how close Ardmore came to rattling Nire here.

There was nothing fortunate about Clashmores win as their workman like performance when they found themselves 0-9 to 0-3 down after 19 minutes had the Nire on the backfoot up to the last ten minutes when the champions made a strong effort to haul back their 0-4 deficit on the scoreboard. If ever the County Senior football championship needed a shot in the arm, it got it with a loud bang at the Fraher Field last Friday evening when Clashmore/ Kinsalebeg surprised one and all to record a well deserved 0-1 victory against reigning Champions Nire.

Prendergast was flashed the black card but Breathnach took a while to lift himself and Kilrossanty crowded out the defence leaving An Rinn with limited options from their free-kick. In the fourth and final minute of stoppage time An Rinn attempted to make one last final gallop down field at Kilrossanty only for Stephen Prendergast to cynically foul Donie Breathnach from behind and leave the attacker in a heap in the middle of the field.

Up front for them Brian OHalloran and Paul OConnor were menacing with punishing speed and acceleration and close ball control. That , combined with not taking one of their four goal chances, was a costly factor in the losing of the game. Clashmore/Kinsalebeg six. They played with great heart. 10.The wide county was respectable for both teams. However, Clashmore/Kinsalebeg were full value for their win. All in all, it was a great start to the championship. Hopefully, tonights game has set the tone for what is to come. Their defending in the second half was top quality as they shut down a threatening forward line containing Conor Gleeson, Shane Ryan and Darren Guiry. However, Nire experienced two scoring droughts. One of 12 minutes (the 19th until the 31st) and then another of 22 minutes (the 31st until the 53rd). Nire had a total ofeight wides.

Nire were guilty of some bad wides during this period but the score they needed to revitalise their challenge eventually came from a Shane Ryan free in the 53rd minute and realistically, there was just now one kick of the size 5 between the teams . The Nire challenge reignited and they finished the hour as they started it while Clashmore didnt score in the last 21 minutes of play.

Team changes[edit]

The second goal arrived on 14 minutes. The centre-forward delivered an inviting ball in toward An Rinns goalmouth and Whyte was at the back post to knock the ball down into the back of the net for a 2-1 to 0-2 lead. David Power and Stephen Prendergast knocked the ball around waiting for options to develop before offloading back to Eoin Cummins. Kilrossanty were boxed in by the sideline near the An Rinn endline.

OHalloran was a constant thorn in the side of Nires defence in Round One as his turn of pace, strength on the ball and wielding left leg proved a major weapon throughout the night. He set the tone for his teams intentions within 30 seconds of the affair when he pointed off inter-county full-back Thomas OGorman and he continued to dictate that affair.
