Tubber (@2.0) vs Erin Rovers (@2.0)

Our Prediction:

Erin Rovers will win

Tubber – Erin Rovers Match Prediction | 14-09-2019 10:00

2004 also saw us lose the U16 Final to Ferbane after a replay, while we also lost out in the U12 semi-final to St Rynagh's after a replay, but despite all the disappointment what it did give was the belief to keep going and on 12th September 2004 all the efforts of the club came to the fore when we won the U14 Final, beating Gracefield by 3-5 to 1-10.

Clara come into this on the back of a facile win over St Rynagh"s while Ballycumber had to work a lot harder to secure their win over Erin Rovers. This may suggest that Ballycumber will start better while Clara spend some time becoming accustomed to the pace of the game, but the Magpies should have too much class here and if Reynolds, Deehan and O"Hara get going, they have too much firepower for Ballycumber to handle.

Unfortunately 2005 also saw us defeated by Birr in the U12 County semi-final and since then matters on the playing field hasn't brought us too much silverware. Silverware was back in Tubber once again. In 2006 we did reach the Minor Quarter Final only to lose out to Kilcormac/Killoughey who that year reached the County Final, while it was in 2006 that we made our last final appearance when we lost to St Broughan's in the U16B Final. To those who had the vision of a Minor Club, our years of success are down to you and hopefully more and more years of success will come to us. 2005 was another great year for the club when we beat Birr by 1-12 to 2-3 in the U14B Final and Ferbane in the U16B Final by 1-9 to 1-7.

We"re going to predict Kelly will learn his lesson from the Rhode match and Tullamore to go from county champions to relegation candidates by Sunday evening. If he spends his time going from side to side and hitting in long-range shots over crowded defences, Shannonbridge"s scorers will be starved of possession and Tullamore will get home, possibly by the four point margin that they need. Shannonbridge will have their work cut out handling the effervescent pairing of Gearid O"Grady and Shane Dooley, but Ferbane exposed Tullamore"s mental fragility last time out and Shannonbridge could easily do the same this weekend. The key lies with Jason Kelly - if he moves the ball along and doesn"t overplay it some fifty metres from goals, Shannonbridge will win.

Both these sides have been surprise packets in 2008 and neither team will want to lose momentum by doing anything other than competing at 100 per cent intensity. Conspiracy theorists will be watching this game keenly to see if the two sides engineer the mutually satisfactory draw that will send both clubs into the knockout stages, but realistically this will only be an issue if the scores are level with a few minutes to go.

Gracefield should welcome back the two Fitzpatricks and that added firepower could give them the edge in what could be a very hard fought and entertaining game. Offaly"s two midfielders, Ciaran McManus and Niall Smith, will do battle at midfield and both players are likely to play a big role, but Gracefield"s half-back and half-forward lines should win the battle for breaking ball and their greater scoring ability should be too much for Tubber to handle, as a club who find scoring more than twelve times extremely difficult.

Doon aren"t firing on all cylinders by any means, but they scored 1-14 against Kilcormac/Killoughey last time out and Birr can only dream of scoring fifteen times in a single game. Doon warmed up for this match with a big league win over Daingean during which they scored four goals - scoring two or three more than that could prove difficult. Doon to win by between two and three goals is the verdict. Birr can win this, but they"ll need to score at least two more goals than Doon do, possibly three.
