Tubber – St Josephs Doora Barefield Match Prediction | 14-09-2019 07:00

Next up for the boys in blue is a home fixture v Clooney Quin who also had a winning start this weekend with a narrow victory over Tubber. In the final minute Parteen were awarded a penalty after a high challenge by the Doorabarefield keeper on Parteens full forward. The south east Clare side upped the tempo and finished very strong with Shane Reddy raising a green flag after a significant block down by Evan Fitzgerald on the Doorabarefield defence. Oisin Hickey completed the goal scoring in typical poacher fashion when he finished a ground strike to the net. David Small had the luxury of taking a point from the resultant 20m free to land his eight point of the day to hand the Parteen team their first points of the 2016 league campaign. However shortly afterwards their corner forward picked up a second yellow and took the long walk for a rash challenge on David Small. The second half turned out to be a terrific contest and when a long delivery went all the way to the Parteen net Doorbarefield took a two point lead with 18 minutes remaining.

Doorabarefield finished the half stronger with Ivor White and Jarlath Colleran working hard throughout , hitting four points without reply, to leave a goal between the teams at the short whistle. Strong in defence with Sean Beatty, Noel Bridgeman and Kevin McGleenan prominent throughout, efficient in midfield combined with great team play amongst the forwards laid the foundations for an excellent first round win. It was nip and tuck over the first ten mins after which Parteen hit a purple patch to take a 1.6 to 0.2 lead with an excellent goal coming from Evan Fitzgerald. Parteen made a winning start to Div 1B of the Clare Cup Senior Hurling league with a merited five point win over the hosts in Gurteen. The match was played in challenging conditions and while the pitch held up well the strong cross wind made ball control, passing and striking for points very tricky for both sides.

As Ennistymon have beaten Meelick tonight in the final game in this league for 2015, a three way playoff will probably be the way that the final two semi final spots are decided. Stay tuned for updates, Michael Cusack's and Ennistymon have a better scoring average than us but as walkovers were given by certain team through out the campain it might not be decided on scoring differences, i will post when details are confirmed.
