BREAKING NEWS

They gave Ballycumber plenty of it and arguably deserved a result while Rynagh"s lost by nine to the same opponents. Once relegation becomes an issue, that"s when the Cloghan men spring into life and there is every reason to believe that the same thing could happen here. Rovers drew with Clara, Rynagh"s rolled over and died. On form this season, this should be a handy win for Erin Rovers. It should be simple - but this is the stage where St Rynagh"s traditionally play their best football.

On the 18th minute Cormac Quinn drove the ball through a group of players into the back of the net. Within five minutes of the throw in Walsh Island had 2-1 on the scoreboard. One minute later Colin Daly did the same thing to tie up the scores at 2-4 each. Walsh Island had added three points to their total. Karl Daly once again demonstrated what a great on field leader he is, when he took control of the centre of the defence and drove forward with the ball to provide the forwards with opportunities to score. The Ballycumber supporters who made the long journey to the excellent facilities provided by Bracknagh GAA Club on Thursday evening must have been wondering was their trip going to be wasted. Cormac Quinn added a second from play, Joe got his second point and Sean Hackett added another, after a long run out of defence by Jack Quinn. Eventually Joe Lowry got the visitors off the mark with a point in the tenth minute. Fergal Daly [2] Adrian Kelly[2] and Cormac completed the first half tally to leave Ballycumber leading 2-9 to 2-7 at half time.

Their loss to Clara showed quite how far the club have fallen and unless they can turn things around, they look like they"ll struggle this Sunday too. Raheen have been extremely disappointing in this years IFC and appear to be regressing after several years of playing very competitively at this level. Bracknagh also had a difficult outing in round two of this years championship, shipping 3-18 to St Brigid"s, but the Croghan men are demolishing all round them this year and if Bracknagh can put that one-off result behind them, they can win this.

Offaly won their first major national titles in 2002 when they won the second division of the National Camogie League [1] and in 2009 when they defeated Waterford in the All Ireland junior final.[2]Drumcullen reached the final of the All Ireland club junior championship in 2003.[3] Kinnity owon the Division 3 shield at File na nGael in 1997, Drumcullen won the Coiste Chontae an Chlir Shield in 1997. Nine Offaly camogie clubs were organised in the 1930s and Offaly entered the Leinster championships of 1935 and 1936, but the game declined amid the Camogie Association disputes of the 1940s and had to be revived by Clare-born Mary OBrien in 1973, and a county board re-formed in 1979.

This may suggest that Ballycumber will start better while Clara spend some time becoming accustomed to the pace of the game, but the Magpies should have too much class here and if Reynolds, Deehan and O"Hara get going, they have too much firepower for Ballycumber to handle. Clara come into this on the back of a facile win over St Rynagh"s while Ballycumber had to work a lot harder to secure their win over Erin Rovers.

Clonbullogue will have been hugely disappointed with their year so far and all that remains for them now is to ensure that they don"t get drawn into a relegation dogfight. Their status as a football only club, unlike Kilcormac/Killoughey for whom hurling is the primary sport for many of their key players, should give them the edge in this fixture, provided they play with the same focus that they did against Birr. A great Sen Ryan goal was the main reason that they came away with nothing from that fixture and K/K don"t offer that level of threat here.
